The Definitive Guide to Integrating Redesys with Odoo and Enabling Payments via Bizum

A person is holding a smartphone and an orange credit card outdoors, making a mobile digital transaction or payment.

PreparationsaidInitial setup: modules required to integrate Redsys with Odoo

Odoo Enterprise does not include a Redsys by default. To do this, we turn to the most robust solution maintained by the community: the Odoo Community Association (OCA) module.

You'll need two things:

  1. payment_redsys module: This is the OCA module that Redsys adds to Odoo's list of payment methods.

  2. Python library pycryptodome: The payment_redsys module needs it to handle the communication encryption (the HMAC SHA256 signature) required by Redsys.

Without these two components, Odoo will not have the option to configure Redsys.

Step 1: Essential settings in the Redsys dashboard to connect to Odoo

Before playing Odoo, You must configure your admin panel for Redsys. The key here is how Odoo will handle payment responses.

Log in to your Redsys dashboard and look for the connection settings (usually labeled "Technical Settings" or "Merchants").

  • Sending parameters in URLs: You must select "Yes" for this option. This allows Odoo Please send the URLs from URL_OK (successful payment) and URL_KO (payment failed) dynamically for each transaction. It is the more flexible method.

  • URL_OK and URL_KO (Optional): If you do not select the option above, you will need to manually fill in the Return URLs hereWe do not recommend it, as it is less secure and stiffer. Let Odoo manage them dynamically.

The most important thing here is to obtain your credentials. You’ll need to have your Encryption Secret Key (HMAC SHA-256), your Merchant Code (FUC), and your Terminal Number on hand.

Redsys will provide you with two sets of keys: one for the "Test Environment" and another for the "Real Environment" (Production). Make sure you know which one you're using. 90% of "invalid signature" errors are caused by mixing up these keys.

Step 2: Configuring the Redsys payment method in Odoo

Now that the payment_redsys module is installed in your database, it's time to go to Odoo.

Go to the Odoo Accounting > Settings > Payments > Payment Methods.

Here you'll see "Redsys" in the list. Click to open its settings, which is divided into three main tabs.

"Credentials" tab: Main Redsys settings in Odoo

This is where you enter the information you obtained from your bank and the Redsys dashboard.

  • Merchant Name: Your store's name as it will appear on the payment gateway.

  • Merchant Code (FUC): The numerical code that identifies you.

  • Password: The HMAC SHA-256 key. Copy and paste it very carefully, without any extra spaces.

  • Terminal: The default value is 1. Use the one assigned to you by your bank.

  • Currency: Make sure it's Euros - EUR (978).

  • Transaction type: Must be 0 (Authorization).

  • Consumer language: Set this according to your audience (e.g., "Spanish").

  • Payment method: Here you can choose which options to accept. Important: To activate Bizum, you must select it here (in addition to "Card").

  • Redsys' version of the signature: Always choose HMAC SHA256 V1. It is the only secure and currently accepted option.

"Settings" tab: visual and accounting options in Odoo

This tab controls how the payment option appears to the customer and how it is recorded in your accounting system.

  • Displayed as: The name the customer will see when selecting a payment method (e.g., "Pay with Credit/Debit Card").

  • Payment icons: Select the logos you want to display (Visa, Mastercard, etc.).

  • Countries: Restrict this payment gateway to specific countries only. Leave this field blank to accept payments from around the world.

  • Subscription-based newspaper: This field is essential! You must select the journal (usually your primary bank's journal) where Odoo will record payment entries.

Tip from DYNAPPS: We recommend creating a specific payment journal called "Bank - Redsys." This makes bank reconciliation much easier, since you can view all POS transactions grouped in one place before the bank issues your statement.

"Messages" tab: text displayed to the customer during the checkout process

Here you can customize the messages that customers will see at each stage of the process (pending payment, completed, canceled). You can use HTML to style them.

Differences between test mode and production mode in Redsys Odoo

In the Redsys payment method settings, you'll see the "Status" field. It has three options:

  1. Disabled: It does not appear as a payment option.

  2. Enabled (Production): Real mode! This mode accepts payments with real money. It should only be used with production credentials.

  3. Test mode: Use the Redsys test gateway. It is essential for verifying the payment flow without using real cards. It must be used exclusively with test credentials.

How to Fix the "Invalid Signature" Error in the Redsys Odoo Integration

You've set everything up, placed a test order, and... Signature error.

This is the most common mistake, and it is almost always due to one of the following reasons:

  1. Mixed Keys: You are using the production secret key with Odoo in test mode (or vice versa). They must match.

  2. Error copying: The secret key (HMAC SHA-256) has a space at the beginning or end when you copy and paste it.

  3. Incorrect signature: You have not selected HMAC SHA256 V1 in the "Redsys Signature Version" field.

To test it, generate a quote in Odoo, use the "Preview Customer" action, and follow the payment process. If you're redirected to the Redsys payment gateway, the connection is working!

Enabling Bizum in Odoo using the Redsys module

One of the major advantages of this OCA module The thing is, the integration with Bizum is native.

You don't need an additional module. To enable it, simply go to the "Credentials" tab for your payment method Redsys in Odoo, search for the field ""Payment method" and select "Bizum" (or "Card," if you want both).

That's it! Odoo will process the Bizum payment through Redsys just like a credit card, recording it in your accounting system.

Complete integration: sales, accounting, and payments all in one place with Odoo

Connect Redsys with Odoo Transform your operations. You’ll no longer have a separate sales system and a separate payment system (Redsys) from your accounting. With this integration, every paid order automatically generates an accounting entry and marks the invoice as paid, making bank reconciliation a breeze.

Although the setup is technical, the efficiency gains are immediate.
